Today Scot McKnight posted about Richard Dawkin's book The God Delusion. A book like this is just one more example of why our youth need the active support of a vibrant congregation.
Somewhere (and at the moment I don't recall where, although I've seen the statistic more than once) a researcher found that youth need significant relationships with at least six mature Christian adults in order to grow into a lasting faith.
I'm drawn to that "six-pack" idea. I'd like it myself if I knew I had six adults actively encouraging my faith.
It seems that the idea of connecting the youth to the wider congregation is somewhat of a new one at many churches. I think it's time for a paradigm shift.
